The SAA Voyager Donation Programme was introduced as an opportunity for Voyager members to play a role in fulfilling the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses through the donation of their Voyager Miles (expired or not). These donated miles have helped us fulfil children’s dreams to fly to the seaside, the Lost City, a flight to meet their hero, a long los. To touch a giraffe

Leane is an 8 year old girl still waiting for the perfect match to get a Bone Marrow transplant. Her biggest dream was to touch a life giraffe and a Game farm near the Addo Elephant Park made this possible. They invited the family to go and spend a weekend there. On arrival the beauty therapist took Leane and gave her a makeover. In her room the chef baked special cookies spelling out Leane’s name. Later that weekend she also got her own cookie-baking lesson from the master chef of the 5 star game farm. Throughout the weekend they went on numerous game drives where she was able to get very close a giraffe. They also went on an elephant back safari that she really enjoyed a lot. When I went to pick them up at the airport they could not stop talking about how wonderful their weekend was and how much the staff did for Leane.
To see my Granny

Darren is a very upbeat teenager who aspires to play rugby, soccer, however due to his condition, this may not be possible. As a result his heroes are John Smit and the Springboks. He enjoys Chris Brown and his favourite food is Ribs & chicken from the Spur. Darren is a very polite, conservative child who dreamed to visit his Granny in Jhb whom he has not seen for a very long time. We arranged for the family to fly on Christmas Day (Darren at this stage still had no idea until his mom presented him with an invitation where all the details were on it which was only given to him on Christmas Day!
Darren was dumbstruck! Once the family boarded the SAA plane and the crew realised that Darren was a special guest, he was invited to the cockpit which was one of the many highlights of the start of his dream come true! The staff and crew made Darren feel so special. Needless to say, Darren and his family had the most amazing time with Granny!
To meet my hero, Surprise Moriri

Onke’s dream is to watch the Sundowns playing soccer. He and Nicholas set off on Saturday morning for the airport, with Onke kitted out in a Sundowns jersey and cap, carrying his precious soccer ball ready for autographs. This was his first flight, which he took completely in his stride.
He was very excited to be on the plane for the first time, he sat at the window asking nonstop questions. After we landed we hopped into a car and headed to Pretoria. When we arrived we went straight to the suite as the game was starting. We managed to get photos of him with the Sundowns development team, and he said he would like to be the next Downs goalkeeper. At half time Sundowns was 1 nil down which did not make him happy! When the game ended with a 2 nil defeat, we had to convince him to accept the outcome. But comforting him was not that difficult, because Daniel ‘Mambush’ Mudau was arranging for him to meet the heroes downstairs. They all made such a fuss of Onke, taking photos and signing their autographs on his ball. Even the Sundowns’ staff was really good to us with the members of management treating him like a VIP. The day was so special and it was one very happy young boy who returned back to East London the next day with the memories of being the most important person in the Sundowns team – memories that will stay with him for the rest of his life!
To go to Miss South Africa

The excitement started with a trip to Janine Oates Couture where we were fitted with beautiful evening dresses for the Miss SA pageant – and then on to Hemingways Mall to buy shoes, accessories and bathing costumes. What a wonderful experience! This was the first time Kholiswa had been on an aeroplane and her first trip to Johannesburg. It is an experience she will never forget. Once we were on the plane, the flight attendant was friendly and well informed which made us feel so safe and comfortable. She looked out of windows of the plane pointing houses and mountains. On our arrival at O.R Tambo Airport Bronwyn from the Jhb office met us with a friendly smile and took us to Gold Reef City. What wonderful accomodation, beautiful scenery and the friendly staff who welcomed us warmly. We spent the whole day enjoying ourselves and then spent a wonderful night in the Hotel at Gold Reef where we felt very pampered and important. The next day dawned bright and early, ready for Bronwyn to collect us to take us to Sun City. The weekend was magic - Kholiswa loved every moment of it. What a beautiful place – it felt like heaven, swimming and enjoying the surroundings. It was fantastic to get dressed up and go to the pageant where we met the finalists, chatting to Miss SA Teen and watching Miss SA. We truly felt like princesses ourselves and were made to feel so special! This trip was the dream of a life time and Kholiswa will never forget it!
